Please respond in 3:2:1 fashion. This section covers our notes from Monday on parameter passing and objects vs. primitive. Pay special attention to the memory storage diagrams… They are very helpful.

1) Void methods do not have return statements.
2)Formal parameters of primitive data types have no connection to the actual parameter that it retained its value from.
3)Changing the value of a refernce variable changes the value of the actuasl variable.
1)How do you get information out of void methods?
2)what are some examples of refernce variables?
1)The use of refernce variables can change the output of a program because the refernence variables can effect the original primitive data types.

1. Void Methods are methods that do not havea return type.
2. Void methods are not called in an expression.
3. To call a void method, you use the method name together with the actual parameters.
1.What are the benefits to using the new operator?
2. Is it better to use the new operator or just use primitive data types/
1. Knowing how to use the new operator will help solve this lab.

1) Void methods can have a formal parameter but does not need one.
2) Parameters provide a link between the calling method and the called method.
3) Reference variables can pass value(s) from a method and can change the actual parameter value.
1) How many parameters can be set for one method?
2) When and why would we use a reference variable?
1) Hopefully this section ties into what we’re doing in lab. There’s a lote to this one so a little more information could be a big help.

1. we use the operater new to allocate memory for an object belonging to a specific class.
2.When a method is called memory for its formal parameters and variables declared in the body of the method, called local variables, is allocated in the method data area.
3.If a formal parameter is of the primitive data type and the corresponding actual parameter is a variable, the the formal parameter cannot change the value of the actual parameter.
1.How are reference variables as parameters useful.
2.What is memory allocation.
1.This is hard and I am going to be needing a lot of help on my program.
March 13th, 2007 at 11:14 am
1.) because these methods don’t have parameters they are usually good for displaying information about the program or printing statements.
2.) when using an actual parameter list the actual parameters and there data types must match the formal parameters in the order geiven.
3.) reference variables do not hold value, they point to a place where the data is stored.
1.) if a void method cannot return information how is it able to print statements?
2.) can you use more than one type of method at once?
1.) what is the overall purpose of refence variables?
March 13th, 2007 at 11:14 am
1.) You can place user-defined void methods either before or after the method main.
2.) Because void methods do not have a data type, they are not used in an expression.
3.) If a formal parameter is of the primitive data type and the corresponding actual parameter is a variable, then the formal parameter cannot change the value of the actual parameter.
1.) Why is there no connection between the formal parameter and the actual parameter when the formal parameter is of the primitive data type?
2.) What happens if a formal parameter is a referance variable?
1.) I am somewhat confused by this however if we go over it in class than I should be able to get the jist of it. The hardest part of going on vacation is coming back to reality.

we use new to allocate memory for an object
class string does not contain any method that allows you to change an existing string
any time the variable gets changed the reference get changed too
why do we have to do so many step and have so many references for one thing
why cant we have one method that does it all
i think that the pointing and different references will be the hardest to do
March 15th, 2007 at 10:46 am
1.)void methods lack a return type.
2.) void methods are sometimes not called.
3.) to use a void method you need the parameters.
2.) can you use multiple methods simultaneously?
1.) Can void methods be used without given parameters?
1.) This is very hard. im stuck on my program and i think a need a lil help.
March 16th, 2007 at 10:52 am
1. Void methods do not have a return type.
2. In a mthod call the numer of actual parameters, together with their data types, much match the formal parameters in the order given.
1. for loops can create star patterns
1. If you want to return more than one value should i use reference vairbales are parameters?
2. what is the difference between parameters and variables?
1. I hope that someday I can tell the difference between these things!
